plato's cave - 22.10.26

an arfticle today in “Haaretz” about simulated reality reminded me of how I questioned Plato’s allegory of the cave in high school.  If reality is simulated, I asked my teacher, Mr. Benjamin,* who is simulating it?  and why bother?

But it’s such a good question in Israel today as more and more former friends of Bibi are turning against him – violently – warning the voters that the world he has created is not real, that he is living in an world that suits his narcissism alone.

And now I understand why the world Bibi has created is one he has foisted on a large population in Israel – to please himself.

*Since you asked, my high school teacher was Phillip Schuyler Benjamin, a Quaker, who once told us about his latest Quaker meeting, when there was a long silence.  Then an old man got up and said “Two skeletons were in a closet for centuries.  Suddenly one said to the other, ‘you know, if we had any guts, we’d get the hell out of here.’
