Because I’ve been trying to escape from reality with birthday celebrations, I haven’t gone crazy that my site has suddenly become impossible and if I try to follow the advice of the server the site goes down.  I am also not going to a demonstration tonight.  The two things are connected – Just like my repeated pleas to the server bring me back to my beginning of my journey, my repeated pleas to the government get me into the same mess I’ve been in from the beginning.  We just encourage Sinwar to rape and torture those hostages a little more, to kill some more, to starve his people a little more.  which just makes the rest of the world hate us a little more…

But don’t worry – I’ll find a way out of the computer cycle and be back on line with a perfect site soon.

And while Baruch is working behind the scenes to help me restore my site, I must confess that after all we’ve been through, getting hacked is not the worst thing in the world.  Especially in the light of what the future looks like for us.  It’s almost my birthday and I’m happy to grow older.  First, because of the fact that my world is a dangerous place, second because I really know more now about what’s important than I knew a year ago, and third because in the middle of this incredible mess I’ve got a good life and I appreciate it.

But Woke isn’t going away, my friends say, and even though their entire reasoning is based on fundamental ignorance, their actions will have terrible consequences for the next generation.  for the world.

Forgive me for pontificating – it’s my birthday so I am evaluating my life and the future of my grandchildren after me.

For our birthday celebration, we had lunch at Cassis in Jaffa.  It felt just a bit strange – fasting for Muslims, feasting for Jews.  And who wants to celebrate. Bombs falling in the north, we’re bombing in the UN, there’s no money for explaning our situation to the world, and there’s almost nothing to celebrate.

But there’s the beach, the sea bass we can share, and another birthday we’ve reached (my friend and me).  Okay, she’s limping, and could use a bit of skin therapy, and I could as well, but we’re still here and can enjoy ourselves on the beach.  Pretty cool.

I must have told this story many times:  When Orit was little – we used to go the Gaza for my husband’s business.  For Orit it was paradise.  She would take off her shoes and run to the children to play – and always had to be persuaded to leave at the end of the day.  When I heard Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib speaking with Yasmine Mohammed I saw the idyllic days then before my eyes.  It’s a long interview but everything is accurate and makes perfect sense.
