it may be i can take a shower tonight or tomorrow morning, and maybe I can sleep without running to the shelter, because it was just said we took out the 16 rocket launchers that were aimed at us. i imagine that if it is 16 launchers there are 2 guys to a launcher and all of them have families that will be mourning tonight.
So how can I sleep with all those people mourning?
Remember a few days I talked about the way the other side uses fake news? – I only gave one example, but there are many more significant ones. Take the case of the buildings in Gaza that Israel implodes. Terrible, right? But no one mentions the fact that the army not only cherry picks the buildings – only the ones that have military significance, but they also phone every single tenant and tell them they have 10 minutes to get out. Sometimes the tenants argue that they need more time. I have seen those clips on tv, and it breaks my heart, but I do bless the fact that they will not be killed. They don’t have shelters or safe rooms…
I know this is a mind game, that they promised to hit Tel Aviv again two hours ago and it’s quiet. That they will hit in the middle of the night.
which of course means that they’re aiming for as many civilian casualties as possible. and old people like me stumble on their way to the shelter…
But of course, we have this policy to “knock on the roof,” to warn citizens if we’re going to bomb, to get them out of the way. Sometimes they even ask for another few minutes to go home and get some stuff out…
i would like to stay under the covers, but we’re going to pretend all is well with some grandchildren. Ezi slept 11 hours last night – me, i woke up after 6 and felt like saying ‘modie ani lifanecha’, the morning prayer that says – wow, thanks God for returning my soul to me this morning. jeepers. that’s crazy.
my friend in Metula is the one who scares me the most
and we’ve got sirens. gotta go.
15 minutes later.
we’re okay – lots of booms around us but we’re back home. more soon,
okay i may have woken up a few times wondering where my rocket was, but i didn’t really have to get out of bed and run to the shelter. it feels like a luxury night. I know that other people around here – like those near Gaza – are getting their lives ripped apart by rockets. And people in Gaza must be scared out of their wits – even though we’re not aiming for civilians like they are. So I have to be happy with what I’ve got – fear. but not terror.
Thank you all for checking up on me. Even if I don’t answer I appreciate it.
I was talking with Haim Marantz in Beer Sheva before about his recent heart attacks when he suddenly interrupted our conversation with – “listen to the sirens” – and then he hung up. On tv I saw the city was being barraged with rockets, so I waited an hour and then called back – just to see if he had been bombed or had another heart attack from the rockets.
I had just been on the phone with my friend from Metula who was also complaining about the noise.
Let’s hope there’s no noise tonight.
I remind you – while we aim to hit the attackers, and avoid civilians whenever possible, someone out there is aiming for my friends and me. We’re all over 75 so it’s easier to catch us.
Remember how I canceled on the doctor at the last minute because Hamas said they were going to bomb Tel Aviv at 6? and then they bombed hours later? These things are old tricks, from Thutmose to Napoleon. So we’ve been doing it too. And the most successful liar wins.
you might wonder how this fits in with the following article in theTimes of Israel. For that you have to read between the lines.
