Surprise surprise.
Even when I think I can be a normal person, with no primary sense of national identity, even when i think i can take a break from the complex concept of self that envelopes every israeli, within hours i find myself embroiled in a confrontation. i am playing indulgent grandma in Boston, and trying not to impose any values on the others that have not been elsewhere instilled, but there is no choice. The language, the religion, the values, are all part of me.

When I pointed out a few weeks ago that it might happen thaat the death toll in Gaza will turn out to be much less than estimated, I didn't think it would be so soon, buthere come the reports.
